Teaching assistant for Soroban (mental math with an abacus)
What should you do?
Are you ready to guide children in mastering the Soroban and transform their free time into fun and stimulating learning experiences? Once a week, you'll help children (ages 5-12) progress in their mental math exercises with the Japanese abacus, developing their concentration and speed. Through educational games, progressive challenges, and a supportive approach, you'll build relationships and help them gain confidence with math. The volunteer placement at our Soroban school takes place throughout the school year, and training will be provided.
What do you get from us?
A collaborative and passionate work environment, a wonderful team of volunteers who have been by our side for several years. We share a desire to teach, support, and encourage young people to think critically, fostering their understanding of academic subjects and opening them up to the world. To join our team, please send us a cover letter, a statement of interest, and/or a resume. We will take the time to meet with you and see if our needs, the needs of the young people we work with, and your aspirations align.
